Essentials of Quality Care – Don’t Miss this Event

May 14, 2019

Legacy Care will be attending the Health Facilities Association of Maryland (HFAM) event June 27-28, 2019, held at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Maryland. This event, “The Essentials of Quality Care” will cover topics concerning Outcomes, Staffing, Financing, and Regulations. Administrators, Regional Directors, Finance Officers, and other department leaders are encouraged to attend! The event provides the tools required to be a proficient leader in offering quality, cost-effective care to those in need while supporting and managing a skilled team.

Did you now that beginning in November of 2019, all skilled nursing and nursing facilities will be required to have a Compliance and Ethics Program? This is an Affordable Care Act Provision that goes into effect this year, are YOU prepared? The requirements vary depending on the size of the organization, but there are some common requirements across all facilities:

  • Written compliance and ethics standards, policies, and procedures
  • High-level program oversight and sufficient resources and authority to ensure compliance
  • Effective communication of standards, policies, and procedures
  • Procedures to promote compliance, such as auditing and monitoring
  • An anonymous reporting system
  • Consistently enforced disciplinary action
  • Appropriate responses to violations and prevention of similar future violations

Here at Legacy Care, we are extremely excited about the culture change movement that represents a fundamental shift in thinking about the communities we serve. The purpose of the Person-Centered Care Planning session is to prepare you for the recent changes to the Requirements of Participation (RoP’s). This movement is a broad-based effort to transform nursing homes from impersonal healthcare institutions into true person-centered homes catering to the long-term care needs of its residents. Legacy Care providers are proud to be among the many stakeholders shaping the culture-change principles and practices regarding the value and quality of care offered in traditional nursing homes. Don’t miss this session as it will cover the specific changes to the RoP’s related to assessment and care planning, including components in phase three (required in November 2019), and will highlight the most common deficiencies currently being cited.

Have you heard? PDPM is coming! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re already planning for the most significant change in payment methodology in two decades. Join us as the great folks at HFAM put it all together during the PDPM – The Road Map to Reimbursement, Person Centered Care, and Outcomes session held on day two of the event.

Lastly, don’t forget to stop by Legacy Care’s booth for some sweet goodies or join us for some refreshments to socialize and connect at the reception. We’re looking forward to seeing you all there!
