Richmond, Va – Legacy Care nurse practitioner Kenjilyn Uchida, NPFNP-C was selected to care for patients on weekends in a rehabilitation facility located in Richmond, Va.
“A wide body of research has clearly demonstrated the connection between quality of care and weekend staffing – including the reduction of unplanned discharges and emergency room visits for common ailments an on-site provider can quickly manage,” said Monica Hullinger, Legacy Care president. “Weekend staffing can be hard to find, but we have providers to help deliver quality patient care from weekend rounding or other support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Kenjilyn is new to Legacy Care, but is not new to delivering quality nursing care. She has been a critical care nurse and charge nurse in a skilled nursing facility. She also has hospice and home health and wellness experience, through her work with several health insurance organizations. Kenjilyn received her Masters of Nursing from Western Mindanao State University, specializing in medical-surgical care. She earned her nurse practitioner degree from South University.
Across the Mid-Atlantic, Legacy Care providers have been filling in staffing gaps at many nursing home, rehabilitation centers and skilled nursing facilities nights, weekends and holidays. “So many things can change in a patient over the weekend. I am able to help fill in any gaps of care that could be put on the backburner during that time frame,” said Dustin Powers, NP, a nurse practitioner who is part of a team that provides coverage in a Virginia-based skilled nursing facility. “The continuity of care for patients is amazing.”
His colleague, Tammy Knick, NP, agrees. “As a team, we work hard to identify medical issues and resolve, so we don’t have to send patients from the facility back to the emergency room. We can administer tests to catch things like, for example, a urinary tract infection, then treat it quickly before it turns septic.”
Staffing shortages continue to provide challenges to the healthcare industry, which is why Legacy Care works with its partners to attract experienced clinical providers to help address the healthcare needs of care communities. To learn more, visit LGS.legacycare.com
