Legacy Care Chief Medical Officer Elected to National Post

AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (AMDA) recently announced that Legacy Care’s Chief Medical Officer Danny W. Felty, MD, FAAFP, CMD  was elected to AMDA’s Board of Directors. Dr. Felty will serve a 3-year term as a State Presidents’ Council Representative, where he will serve as a board liaison to AMDA’s state chapters.

Dr. Felty brings much experience to this role. He is the current President of the Virginia Medical Directors Association, a state chapter of AMDA. He has been a member of the chapter since 2008, and has served in various leadership positions since 2010. Dr. Felty has participated in the AMDA House of Delegates since 2010 and on the State Presidents’ Council since 2015.

In addition to his CMO leadership position at Legacy Care, Dr. Felty currently serves as medical director at several skilled nursing facilities in Central Virginia. Additionally, Dr. Felty was appointed to serve on the Governor of Virginia’s COVID-19 Long-Term Care Facility Task Force throughout the pandemic for several years.

A distinguished graduate of the Virginia Military Institute class of 1994, Dr. Felty attended medical school at the Virginia Commonwealth University (Medical College of Virginia campus) and completed a residency in Family Medicine at VCU’s affiliated Chesterfield FP program. Dr. Felty achieved the status of Fellow within the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2006 and received his status as a Certified Medical Director with AMDA in 2009.
