As a post-acute and long-term care provider group, Legacy Care understands the many contributions our nurse practitioners make to the residents of our facility partners. As we close this special week celebrating the selfless contribution of our exceptional health care providers serving on the frontlines, Legacy Care wishes to recognize the contributions of nurse practitioner Heather Mullens.
Heather has been with the company before Adaptive Geriatrics (AG) became Legacy Care, which makes her one of our original providers. She started with AG back in May of 2013, three years before we become Legacy Care.
Here’s what Heather has to say about her career…
“I’ve also noticed this population needs extra care and attention over the years as hospitals are discharging earlier. In essence, rehabs have become the step-down units of 10-15 years ago. This has allowed me to utilize my critical care experience while working with the facility to do more in-house treatment opposed to sending the patient back for readmission.”
Heather made the hard decision to leave a job she loved to obtain more flexibility in her schedule with us. The promise of a better work-life balance tipped the scales in our favor and Heather has been with Legacy Care ever since.
As much as we love what our providers do for the patients they serve, we understand they too have families. Heather loves being able to work around her son’s sports schedule which has made a huge impact on her family life.
When asked if she would recommend a career with Legacy Care to others, here’s what she had to say…
“I’d definitely recommend others to join Legacy Care. Due to the change demographics, the opportunity expands to include providers with different backgrounds. Legacy Care seeks providers with backgrounds other than family care, normally associated with a post-acute long-term care community.”
