Physician with 25 Years Experience, Hospice Specialist, Joins Legacy Care
Virginia Beach, Va – Dharmesh Shah, MD, HMDCB is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with more than 26 years of patient care experience.We’re honored to welcome Dr. Shah in his new role with Legacy Care, now serving as a medical director in a Virginia-based skilled nursing community.
Dr. Shah has been delivering care to older adults and geriatric patients for his entire career. He specializes in family medicine, hospice and palliative care. Dr. Shah has worked in private practice, long-term care communities and hospitals. As a Board Certified Hospice Medical Director, he’s also served as a hospice medical director for the past 13 years.
Among his career highlights, Dr. Shah authored several publications and research papers including “Celiac Disease Presence in African Americans.” His leadership roles in several Virginia hospitals include serving as Vice Chief of Family Medicine and a member of a Medical Staff Quality Committee.
Dr. Shah earned his medical degree from Pravara Rural Medical School in India, and his undergraduate degree from Somaiya College of Science.
Married for 25 years, he and his wife have twin boys in college. During his downtime, he enjoys outdoor activities, being in nature and practicing Vipassana mediation daily.
